Two rivers that refuse to mix. Near Manaus, the Río Negro (dark as tea) and the Solimões (pale and muddy) run side by side, pressed together, without merging for 6 kilometers — a sharp line in the middle of the water, set by the difference in temperature and density. You can see it on a boat trip from the city. One of those tricks only Amazonian nature knows how to pull off.
