Chapada Diamantina, in the heart of Bahia state, is an ancient plateau of red rock formations, deep canyons, waterfalls plunging hundreds of meters, and rivers flowing over transparent stone. Poço Encantado and Poço Azul — caves with crystal-clear underground pools lit by sunbeams — are two of Brazil's most photogenic natural phenomena.
