It's the most popular volcano hike in El Salvador, and rightly so. You climb through the clouds to the crater of the country's tallest volcano (2,381 m) and peer into a turquoise sulfur lagoon that shifts color with the volcano's mood. From the summit, in a single turn, you see Lake Coatepeque, Izalco, Cerro Verde and the Pacific. Two hours of climbing that more than pay for themselves.
