A little island of colorful cobblestone streets floating on Lake Petén Itzá, joined to the mainland by a causeway. Flores is the gateway to Tikal (68 km) and the perfect place to watch the sunset from a hotel over the water. Beneath the lake rest the remains of Tayasal, the last Maya city to fall to the Spanish, in 1697. Colorful, peaceful and surrounded by water on every side.
