Tokyo's oldest temple (year 645), heralded by the Kaminarimon gate and its giant red lantern. Before reaching the temple you cross Nakamise, 250 meters of stalls selling souvenirs and traditional sweets. Go at 7 in the morning to have it almost empty, or at night, with the pagoda lit up. Pure old Tokyo.
💡 Getting there: Asakusa Station (Ginza, Asakusa, Tobu lines). 🕐 Temple: 6:00–17:00 (from 6:30 Oct–Mar). Nakamise Street: 9:00–18:00. 💴 Free. 🌸 Best visit: 7:00 am to dodge the crowds, or after 21:00 with the pagoda lit up.
