A recreational park with natural pools fed by springs that surge from volcanic rock, surrounded by tropical vegetation. Opened in 1957, it hosted Miss Universe 1975 and is an icon of Salvadoran recreational culture. Reopened in 2024 after a full renovation by ISTU.
💡 Getting there: 18 km from San Salvador on the Los Chorros Highway (CA-1, 25–35 min by car). Buses (Route 79) run from San Salvador to the entrance gate. 🕐 Hours: Tue to Sun, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Closed Mondays for maintenance. 💴 Entry: $3 USD per person. On-site parking. Accepts cash and cards (debit/credit). 🎯 Activities: swim in the 4 tiered natural pools (cold spring water, 18–22°C), picnic in the green areas, photography under the small waterfalls, restaurants and local kiosks on site. 👨👩👧 Tips: the water is icy — perfect on hot days. There are shallower pools for kids. Bring non-slip sandals (the rocks get slippery). ⭐ What stands out: "pure" spring water, cool climate ringed by mountains, family atmosphere, the best natural swimming spot in the country according to many local visitors. Rated 4.5/5 (3,600+ reviews).
Do I need a vehicle?
Recommended. Route 79 from Terminal de Occidente reaches the site, but the schedule is limited. With your own vehicle or Uber/InDrive from San Salvador it's the most convenient.
