How do you get to Lake Coatepeque?
Bus 220 or 242 from Santa Ana. From San Salvador, take the route toward Santa Ana, then the turnoff to Cerro Verde / Coatepeque. About 65 km, 1 hour by car.

A boat tour for $5 (45 minutes), kayaking, jet skiing, scuba diving with PADI centers, and lunch at one of the floating restaurants with a deck out over the water.
When is the Lake Coatepeque Festival?
The first week of August. With live music, boat parades and a festive atmosphere. Well worth it if your visit lines up.
Can you scuba dive in Lake Coatepeque?
Yes. The lake has very clear waters with freshwater fish. There are PADI centers along the shore for courses and intro dives.
