The most famous wave in El Salvador and one of the best in Central America. A fast, hollow right-hand point break that Gerry Lopez surfed in the '70s and never stopped recommending. Home of the WSL Surf City El Salvador Pro 2026.
"Punta Roca isn't for everyone. It's fast, hollow, and when it gets big it'll make you pay if you don't know what you're doing. But if you surf it well, it's one of those waves you'll remember for the rest of your life."
It's worth the trip even if you don't surf — the beach is free, parking is free, and watching the surfers from the shore is entertainment in itself. Five minutes away is the Port of La Libertad, with the best seafood in the country.
How much does it cost to get into Punta Roca?
Completely free. Free entry and free parking. It's one of the few world-class surf destinations with no access fee.
When is the WSL Surf City El Salvador Pro 2026?

Is Punta Roca dangerous for beginners?
