The largest Maya site in El Salvador, from the Postclassic period (900–1200 AD). Its name in Nahuatl means "place of women." Less visited than the other three sites — which guarantees peace and quiet, and the place almost all to yourself.
How do you get to Cihuatán?
Bus toward Aguilares from San Salvador's Terminal Norte, then a taxi to the site. By car from San Salvador it's about 40 km.
